The credit crunch is taking hold and more companies are going bust.
Sensations Holidays are one of the recent victims so if you were planning a trio away with them I think you need to rethink.
Here is a copy of the article I found.
Following the closure of Throb Holidays last week, Respect Holidays has also just closed today Friday 19th September
The Gay Travel Market usually has a booming trade, but recently because of the worldwide financial problems two major players who have been in business for over 10 years have now gone bust. That is Lidana Ltd, who operate Respect Holidays, Sensations Holidays & Alternative Holidays, and closing at the end of last week, Throb Holidays.
This came as a complete shock to the industry and has left many gay holidaymakers overseas without secure accommodation, and many more gay holidaymakers who were due to go on holiday dealing with cancellations and finding alternate companies to book with.
One of these companies is Mantrav International, who have been in existence since 1990. Mantrav are based in the UK, USA, the Netherlands & Australia and have a wealth of travel experience between them.
Andrew Jones, Sales & Marketing Director for Mantrav International Group stated: “We at Mantrav International Group are deeply shocked by the news that following XL Group going into Administration, that Throb Holidays was forced to close and that now we learn that Respect Holidays has also closed. Throb & Respect have both been valuable parts of the Gay Community, helping to arrange travel to Gay destinations and all over the world for Gay Travellers. It is a great shame that they have both now been force to close.”
When asked about Mantrav International’s future as the Leading Gay Travel Specialist Andrew added “I want to assure all customers that Mantrav International is safe. We have a solid financial backbone, an expert team running our company both in London and worldwide and we are of course fully bonded, so all bookings made with us are secure. I am very keen to help however we can, those customers affected by these closures. We are still The Leading Gay Travel Specialist and we will continue to be so for many years to come.”
Highlighting one of the most popular Gay Holiday destinations, Gran Canaria, where all these companies which closed sent many gay holidaymakers, some Gay Only resorts have been forced to close with them, most notably Los Almendros, a very popular Gay Resort in Playa Del Ingles. These closures put the continued existence of Club Tucanes & Beach Boys into further doubt, leaving principally Club Mancha & Club Mancha 2 as the only Gay men only resorts left on the island. Gay Travel is a booming industry estimated to be worth £3bn in the UK alone. The average gay couple take 3.7 UK short breaks and 5.5 Overseas Holidays per year. (Source GayTimes)
